Rhinoplasty
Unsure about your nose? Then a rhinoplasty may offer a solution. An experienced plastic surgeon brings beautiful balance to the face through a rhinoplasty.
Many men and women are dissatisfied with their nose, which can lead to reduced self-confidence. Do you recognize yourself in this? Then a nose correction may offer a solution. Based on your wishes, the doctor determines what is needed to bring your face into balance. In some cases, only making the nostrils narrower is sufficient, but sometimes a more complex nose correction is needed to achieve the desired result. Our goal is to create a nose that suits your face, so that you can look in the mirror with confidence. Functional complaints such as breathing problems can also be remedied with a nose correction.

The consultation
During the first consultation, you will discuss your wishes with the doctor. The nose will also be examined and a mirror will be used as an aid (and if necessary, photos and drawings) to communicate about the possible change in shape. The treatment, surgical technical aspects, possible complications and aftercare during the postoperative period will then be explained. In addition, you will be asked about a number of health aspects and the use of medication. All data will be recorded in the Electronic Patient File during the first consultation. The consultant will then discuss a number of practical matters and provide you with information about a possible operation date. Matters that will be discussed include:
– Your medication use, allergies and medical conditions
– Your tobacco, drug and alcohol use
– Any previous operations
During this consultation, we will also take photos to make a clear analysis of your facial profile. The aim of the consultation is to map out whether the doctor can meet your wishes by performing a nose correction. After the consultation, you will know exactly what to expect, what the operation would cost and when you can be helped by us. We believe it is important that no question remains unanswered, so do not hesitate to ask all your questions.
The surgery
On the day of the operation, you may report to the reception desk of the operating room. You will then be accompanied by a nurse to the correct room.
It is important to remember that no two rhinoplasties are the same. The aim of the operation is to optimise the aesthetics of the nose and to bring it into balance with the rest of the face. The initial situation, ethnic background, skin type and age play an important role in this. Sometimes a simple procedure is sufficient to make the tip of the nose or the wings of the nose narrower. Sometimes complicated operations are required on the bridge of the nose or the entire nose. The duration of the operation depends on the extent of the procedure and is discussed in advance.
In general, a nose correction is performed under general anesthesia (narcosis). The nose correction is performed open or closed, the doctor will discuss this with you during the first consultation.
With an open rhinoplasty, small incisions are made that are barely noticeable afterwards and with a closed operation you will not get any scars on the outside of the nose. If necessary, you will get wound tampons in both nostrils after the operation. After the operation you will calm down in the recovery room.
Aftercare and recovery after rhinoplasty
The surgeon and nurse will determine when you can go home after the nose correction. Please note that there must be someone who can take you home. Driving yourself is not permitted. After a day, you will visit us at the clinic to have the nasal tampons removed and a week later you will visit us to have the applied nasal splint and stitches removed.

Rhinoplasty FAQs
DO I NEED GENERAL ANAESTHESIA DURING THE RHINOPLASTY SURGERY?
In most cases, a nose correction is performed under general anesthesia. The doctor will discuss this with you during the consultation.
WHEN CAN I GO OUT IN PUBLIC AGAIN?
After the correction, we will place an aluminum cap on your nose that you will have to wear for about six to ten days. In most cases, nasal tampons are placed, which are removed by the assistant in our clinic after 1 day. The area around your nose and under your eyes will be swollen and sensitive for a few days after the procedure. After 10 to 15 days, you can resume your daily activities. You will then be presentable again. Most people will not be able to tell from your face that you have recently had surgery.
Is the end result of the rhinoplasty visible quickly?
The final result after a nose job is only visible after about a year. Of course, you will see immediately that your nose has changed, but the bone, cartilage and skin tissue need time to recover. After a year, this process is complete and you can assess the final result of the nose job.
Can I wear glasses after rhinoplasty?
When the nose bridge has been corrected, you are not allowed to wear (sun)glasses that rest on the bridge during the first 6 weeks after the surgery. There is a solution for this when wearing your glasses: you can attach your glasses to your forehead by using a plaster.
